Falling hair
Hair
loss is abnormal if it falls in large quantities and misses the
normal new outgrowth. Each time when we see a large extent of hair
loss, we apply a suitable treatment to assist blood circulation
and stimulate the hair follicles.
The treatment will be really effective if it acts in two directions:
- Stops hair loss
- Stimulating normal new outgrowth
If hair loss is more than 40 or 60 hairs per day, we term it alopecia,
when hair loss may be uneven. This condition can lead to irreversible
baldness if the hair follicles and the hair warts die. But if the
hair wart doesn't die and the matrix cell's life cycle has ended
temporarily, then the condition can be arrested and retrieved. The
treatment of temporary hair loss is to stimulate regeneration of
the matrix cells and to intensify the keratin deposit and the metabolism
of the scalp.
Characteristics of androgenetic alopecia
This
is a hormonal condition, with hair loss most noticeable on the crown
of the head. The scalp becomes thin, atrophied and shiny. Angrectasis
are noticed on the scalp but the outlets of the hair follicles aren't
visible. The formation of this disease starts when the patient is
young.
The therapist's aim is to delay hair loss with suitable
treatment.
Characteristics of seborrhoea alopecia
Androgenetic hormones are present in large quantities, which stimulate
the sebaceous glands and leads to the formation of seborrhoea. Seborrhoea
causes increased changes in the hair, greasiness and uncomfortable
itching. Hair loss starts at the temples and on the crown of head.
In such cases the hair becomes very thin, lifeless and it needs
nutriment.
Other conditions that cause hair loss:
- Thyroid gland, kidney, female hormonal problems
- Extended fever
- Use of anti-coagulants
- Diet, poor nourishment
- Bad blood circulation
- Low blood pressure
- Taking of contraceptive pill
- Vitamin deficiency and over dosage
Hair loss can be caused by stress:
The life cycle of hair becomes shorter, with many hairs moving
prematurely into the telogen period.
May be caused by:
- Psycho-physical tiredness
- Car accident
- Report of death
- Fear of hair loss itself
Zonal hair loss:
In this case the hair falls in large quantities but just from certain
parts of the head.
May be caused by:
- Psychological cause
- Local infection
- Inflammation (e.g. teeth, tonsils)
- Hormonal problems
ALOPECIA AREATA: The exact
cause is unknown yet, a kind of self defending disease. The human
tissue of the immunological is defending itself, in the present
case the follicle units of the hair. The healing is different
at every patient, the spontaneous healing is at 30-40%.
In acute cases, when the disease becomes advanced in a short time,
we must be looking for inflammations in the organism.
ALOPECIA AREATA TOTALIS:
we talk about this when all hair falls out.
ALOPECIA AREATA UNIVERSALIS:
is when hair falls not only from the scalp but also from other
parts of the body.
ALOPECIA OPHIASIS: hair falls
from crag to the ears. Besides the loss of the hair we can observe
problems also at the growth of the nails.
ANDROGEN ALOPECIA: Appears
usually at women. In the period of changing the level of female
hormones becomes lower in the organism. In the same time the level
of the masculine hormones, androgens, present also in the female
organism increases. The baldness of the women shows an other model
than as of the men. We can talk about hair loss on the whole head,
on the crown of the head we can observe a linear rarifing.
TRICHOTILLOMANIE: The extortion
of the hair caused by depression. This phenomenon is explained
in each case by psychological motif.
HAIR LOSS AND BALDNESS AS RESULT OF
CHEMOTHERAPY: chemotherapy applies the so called citostaticals.
Citostaticals distroy the cells that grow fast and divide often,
like the tumourous cells. But these attack not only the unhealthy
but also the healthy cells. This causes the falling of the hair,
which differs at every patient, depending of the hair quantity
before the treatment nad of the intensity of the medicines used
as treatment. After finishing the treatment the hair grows out
again, oftenly becomes more dense than it was before.
